UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA, DAVIS HEALTH JOINS ACADEMIC CONSORTIUM’S GLOBAL INTEGRATIVE HEALTH NETWORK
University of California, Davis (UC Davis) Health is joining 75 of the world’s most recognized academic medical centers and health systems as a new member of the Academic Consortium for Integrative Medicine and Health. For integrative medicine professionals and students, the Academic Consortium is the world’s most comprehensive community for advancing the practice of whole health care, with leading expertise in research, clinical care, and education.
“The member institutions within the Academic Consortium have created a strong network of medical centers and health systems dedicated to transforming the future of healthcare toward patient-centered, evidence-based integrative care strategies,” said Academic Consortium Chair, Amy Locke, MD. She added, “we are so pleased to have the team at UC Davis join this community and our shared efforts to advance whole person care that is available to all patients.”
UC Davis Health, which is based out of the Sacramento campus of UC Davis, includes the UC Davis School of Medicine, Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing, UC Davis Medical Center, and UC Davis Medical Group. Their integrative medicine clinic opened in 2021 and offers mind-body medicine, acupuncture services, osteopathic manipulative treatment, and integrative nutrition. The clinic helps patients develop an individualized plan alongside fellowship-trained physicians.
Nationally recognized for translating scientific discoveries and new technologies into improved patient care and community-wide health, UC Davis received over $1 billion in research funding during the 2021-2022 fiscal year. Membership with the Academic Consortium will help UC Davis continue to grow their own integrative medicine program and share their ongoing research and clinical work with other member institutions.
