Integrative Medicine Fellow, Washington, DC VA Medical Center
The War Related Illness and Injury Study Center (WRIISC) and Integrative Health and Wellness Program (IHW) at the Washington, DC VA Medical Center seeks an Integrative Medicine Fellow for a year-long position developing the clinical skills to practice proactive patient-centered medicine in a variety of clinical environments. The fellow will work within a multidisciplinary team at the WRIISC and IHW and will have the opportunity to provide Integrative Medicine (IM) consults and develop coordinated care plans for veterans with complex multi-symptom illnesses and chronic health challenges. The position is primarily clinical, but there are numerous opportunities to participate or develop research projects within WRIISC.
The WRIISC and IHW provide complementary and integrative care for veterans in a comprehensive clinic setting. Veterans are referred through a national program to evaluate post-deployment patients with chronic, medically unexplained symptoms, who require a second opinion or would benefit from an integrative treatment plan to address their medical issues. Veterans are drawn from both this national referral base, as well as a local population. The WRIISC-DC and IHW sites offer the fellow an opportunity to provide Integrative Medicine assessments and treatment plans to veterans in a consultant role. Experience in Integrative Medicine is preferred, although not required.
Term of Fellowship: 1 year; likely January 2017 to January 2018, (some flexibility).
