    About -> Steering Committee

The Steering Committee of the Academic Consortium for Integrative Medicine & Health is comprised of one representative from each of the member institutions; most often it is the institute's director who sits on the Steering Committee. The Steering Committee members share the same goals, visions, and principles in regard to the advancement, awareness, and acceptance of integrative medicine. The Steering Committee votes on the elected officers of the organization as well as new member institutions. While each member has a vested interest at their own institution, Consortium members recognize the importance of advancing the field of integrative medicine. As an organization, the Steering Committee members are committed and willing to step away from their own personal agendas, and work together to advance integrative medicine in the areas of education, research, and clinical practice.

Robert Saper, MD, MPH, of Boston University is currently the chair of the Consortium serving a two-year term alongside vice-chair Lorenzo Cohen, PhD of University of Texas, MD Anderson, Houston, Texas. The Steering Committee meets in the spring each year to discuss progress of the working groups and to ensure that the goals of the Consortium are implemented successfully.

The goal, at its essence, is to make a qualitative difference in people's health by advocating an integrative model of healthcare. The Consortium represents a tremendous opportunity to affect the direction, assumptions and outcomes of healthcare. Here the whole is much more than the sum of the parts.
